The Second Proposal

Dear Georgiana,

I have some very exciting news for you. Elizabeth and I are ENGAGED. It’s a long story, which I’m going to tell you because well, it’s a great story. The night Bingley proposed, I couldn’t sleep. At six-thirty in the morning, I decided to go for a stroll. All night I kept thinking about how I was so in love with Elizabeth and how I wanted her to experience the same happiness as Jane. I was jealous of Bingley’s happiness. On my walk, the only thing on my mind was Elizabeth. I was paying no attention to where I was going and found myself in the direction of  the Bennet’s house. All of a sudden, I see someone walking up the hill. It was Elizabeth. I ran to her. I asked what she was doing out there all alone. She asked me the same thing. She began to thank me for helping Lydia and asked me why I did it. I told her it was because I loved her and I asked if she still felt the same way about me as she did the last time I proposed. She said no. At that moment, I proposed to her with the sunrise in the background. We immediately went to her house so I could ask her father for her hand in marriage. He allowed me my say. He then asked to speak to Elizabeth alone. She told him about what I did for Lydia and his family. He immediately felt repayment was necessary. Which you for one know, I would not let him do that. He gave us his blessing and announced our engagement to the rest of the family. I hope you can participate in my happiness.

                                                                               Your very happy brother,
