Dear Georgiana,
So, last night there was this ball in the town where Bingley bought his country home. Bingley, his sisters, and I were unfortunately invited to the dreadful event, Bingley danced with many women, but his favorite was named Miss Jane Bennet. All the women in the room were tolerable, but none were handsome enough for me. Mr. Bingley too the prettiest girl there, Jane, so I danced with Miss Bingley and Mrs. Hurst. Every single lady in the room wanted to be introduced to me. I tried to avoid all of them. It worked pretty well, and eventually I was left alone. There was a rumor started up about me being rude and having terrible manners. I cannot help I am shy. I do not understand why I had to go to the stupid thing. It is not like I am the one that bought a home out in the country. I am just here visiting Mr. Bingley. I hope to return home to Pemberly soon.
